It can be difficult to decide what kind of window treatments to install in your home. Some treatments require professional installation, curtains can get expensive and blinds can be difficult to install and nearly impossible to clean. Fortunately, there’s a third option, which is both affordable and easy: decorative window film.
Window Prep
Installing decorative window film is easy, but it does require patience. Many types of window film are not adhesive, rather they are made out of a plastic that has a static cling relationship with glass. Whether it’s adhesive or cling the first step in the process is the same: thoroughly wash your windows. You want a clean slate to work with.
Measure
You will want to get an exact measurement for the window you’re covering. Then you will cut a piece of decorative window film to that exact size. Precision is key when it comes to measuring.
Install Window Film
You can either remove all the backing at once or you can peel it back as you go along. Either way, place one edge of the film against the edge of the window and press down on the window film as you place it along the window. Make sure to press out all the air bubbles in each section before proceeding to the next.
